Allina Health Emergency Medical Services (AHEMS), with nearly 80,000 ambulance calls each year, is a regional leader in providing state-of-the art emergency and medical transport services. Both emergency and non-emergency medical transportation are provided in seven counties, encompassing nearly 80 Minnesota communities and reaching more than 1,000,000 people.
• To provide Advanced Life Support care to the sick and injured, and provide safe transport to a medical facility
Good interpersonal communication skills. Excellent documentation skills.
Establish & maintain good rapport with local EMS organizations, first responders and hospitals.
Provide & maintain high medical standards of care to the sick & injured per standard operating procedures.
Treats patients and customers (hospital, nursing and other staff we meet while providing patient care) with high regard and kindly. Honors patient privacy as indicated by policy.
Must follow the Allina Code of Conduct at all times. Knows, understand & demonstrates the precepts behind Integrity, Respect, Trust, Compassion & Stewardship.
Associates Degree or higher required within two weeks of start date
Valid driver’s license & driving record meeting Allina driving policy requirements
Current CPR, ACLS, & MN State EMT-P certification or National Registry with the expectation of receiving MN State EMT-P certification within 2 weeks of start date
Anticipated start date is January 18th
Work Schedule – Additional Position Details
Every other weekend requirement. Shifts are currently 8, 12 and 16 hour shifts.
36 hours per week
Every other weekend rotation
The first 2 weeks of this position will consist of New Employee Orientation from 7:30 to 4pm and classroom time that is between the hours of 8am – 4pm Monday thru Friday and begins on January 18th. This is mandatory attendance without exception.
After the mandatory academy concludes you will be placed with a Field Training Officer (FTO) and follow their schedule for estimated 6 weeks, which could be a day, evening, or night shift. You must be available for all schedules.
After training is complete, it will be necessary for you to float your hours until a time that you are able to bid a regular schedule. (This may take up to two years)
Our shifts begin as early as 3:30am and as late as 11pm, with report to work location varying from 5 different locations throughout the metro and its out lying areas.
