Provides oversight, vision, leadership and direction for the HealthEast Medical Transportation EMS Academy and the Data/Quality initiatives and teams at HEMT. Provides fiscal management and leadership for the EMS Academy/Education and Quality departments. This includes ongoing review and management of budgets according to established procedures and timelines to ensure proper utilization of financial resources. Provides management and leadership for department that ensures optimal utilization of human resources. Including but not limited to determining the appropriate staffing levels and qualifications, setting performance standards, reviewing performance and identifying developmental opportunities. Oversees the development and performance of medical, employee and mandatory education needs for all HEMT employees. Manages the continuing medical education accreditation report and/or survey process to ensure HEMT maintains CME accreditation status. Identifies and partners with key internal and external leaders and stakeholders to identify growth opportunities for the EMS Academy. Oversees the evaluation and implementation of process improvements identified for the EMS Academy. Provides leadership to the Continuous Quality Improvement(CQI) for HEMT and all quality initiatives related to CQI and service excellence. Assures through collaboration with the OMD the clinical competencies of HEMT EMT’s and Paramedics and that the OMD has all necessary resources to perform CQI. Interfaces with the community inside and outside of the HEMT PSA to promote, education and market the programs and services of HEMT and the EMS Academy. Develops, implements and maintains all performance improvement activities, assuring that the regulatory, statutory and clinical requirements of HEMT are being met. Provides leadership to the HEMT Safety Committee. Partners with teams and leaders to establish benchmark standards reported via scorecards to ensure goals are met. Participates in HE system-wide patient safety committee and submits relevant HEMT data. 3 years EMS education and training experience and 5 years of employee management experience required. Certified instructor of ACLS, PHTLS, PALS, AMLS or commit to becoming certified within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of Lean principles and process improvement concepts. Proficient in Microsoft office suite and database concepts. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare or related field required. NREMT – P strongly preferred.
