Provides operational direction to the ALS and BLS Ambulance Divisions and the Plant, Facilities and Supply areas of HealthEast Medical Transportation.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction and/or efficiency outcomes.
Oversees day-to-day operations of the Ambulance Divisions and the Facilities/Plant/Supply departments. Develops and drives strategic plans for each department. Participates in and encourages quality improvement activities. Drives process or technology initiatives within the departments.
Makes recommendations for staffing, training, and scheduling changes in collaboration with Supervisors and other department leaders.
Ensures regulatory compliance with all Federal and State agencies including the EMSRB, EMS Council and other government or accreditation agencies. Participates in Leadership Development Institute sessions and applies principles learned to departments. Participates as the Ambulance Division/EMS subject matter expert in HE corporate and HEMT committees.
Reviews monthly financials and identifies areas of concern, investigating and correcting as appropriate. Maintains appropriate staffing and truck shift schedules as evidenced by budgetary analysis and/or department indicators. Reviews all major department expenditures to confirm necessity of purchase and options. Pursues cost savings or revenue generation within departments.
Oversees incident reporting process on all customer service complaints, informing internal and external stakeholders and addresses the needs and concerns of customers with timely investigation and follow-up.
Responsible for Quality within the Ambulance department. Reviews dashboard results for ambulance monthly to identify opportunities and trends, and follows up as appropriate. Assists in creating, implementing, and follow-up on training/improvement areas for the Ambulance division.
Participates as the Ambulance Division/EMS subject matter expert in HE corporate and HEMT committees. Represents HEMT at EMS or Community events by attending or delegating a representative. Represents HEMT at the Metro Region level, within the HealthEast Care System, and the Dakota County EMS Council. Involved in community MCI activities. Establishes and fosters positive relationships and continuous communication with Police and Fire chiefs and other community leaders.
Essential: Bachelor’s Degree.
Strong EMS industry knowledge required. 4-6 years in EMS role preferred. 3 or more years leadership experience required. Experience in Medical Transportation, 911 Emergency Call Center, Radio Communications, EMSRB and other EMS Regulatory Agencies.
Understanding of the EMS system and applicable laws. Knowledge of Public Safety Systems and Allied Clinical Providers. Knowledge and the skills necessary to effectively direct the operations of a large metro area medical transport business.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association preferred.
Emergency Med Tech Paramedic from MN Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board preferred.
Nationally Registered Emergency Med Tech Paramedic (NREMT-P) from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians preferred.
