Thomas Krueger has dedicated 37 years to EMS, embodying quick thinking, focus, and compassion.
His journey began in 1987 as an EMT while also serving as a Ripon police officer. By 1991, he became a paramedic, working with Cicero EMS and Fire until 2008. During this time, he also taught intubation, IV skills, and AHA/CPR courses at Loyola University’s Stritch School of Nursing.
In 2008, Tom moved to Minnesota, joining Tri-County Healthcare (now Astera Health) as a paramedic and instructor. From 2008 to 2010, he served as a tactical paramedic for the Crow Wing County SWAT team and became a CALS instructor. In 2015, he became Director of Thomas County EMS in Kansas, overseeing operations, training, and serving as Deputy Coroner. He returned to Minnesota in 2017, rejoining Tri-County Healthcare as a paramedic and educator.
Now, as Education Coordinator, Tom leads EMS training for multiple agencies and plays a key role in emergency preparedness, coordinating responses and serving as an Incident Commander.
Outside of EMS, Tom competed in the Highland Games and is known for his vast knowledge of history, science, and medicine. He lives in east-central Minnesota with his girlfriend and three dogs, continuing to lead and inspire in EMS.
