Richard began his EMS career in 1989 as an EMT for Marshall Ambulance. Committed to advancing his skills, he became a paramedic in 1993. When North Memorial Health Ambulance took over Marshall operations in 1996, he continued his service with unwavering dedication. Recently, he celebrated 29 years of service in Marshall, demonstrating his deep commitment to the community.

From 2000 to 2005, Richard worked as a Flight Paramedic for North Memorial Air Care in Redwood Falls before returning to Marshall ground operations as a Critical Care Paramedic. Beyond patient care, he has been an SW EMS board member since 2023 and previously served on the Merit Center board. Passionate about education, he has taught for North EMS and Jackson Vo-Tech while mentoring new EMTs and First Responders.

A lifelong Marshall resident, Richard has been married to his wife, Kris, for 25 years. Together, they have three children: Nolan, Ryley, and Brooklyn. Outside of EMS, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and cheering on the Minnesota Wild.

Richard’s dedication to EMS and his community has made a lasting impact. His years of service, outstanding patient care, and commitment to mentoring the next generation of providers make him a deserving recipient of the 2025 Minnesota Star of Life Award.

Congratulations, Richard!
