The Minnesota Ambulance Association has worked diligently to achieve many legislative and regulatory wins for the industry over the years. The efforts of the Association's Board of Directors, Legislative Committee and active, engaged members are the key to successful government affairs and advocacy.
The MAA continues to promote and lobby for legislation that supports the viability of ambulance operations of all sizes and business structure.

Our 2022 priorities include:

  • Increasing EMT education reimbursement
  • PSA & local control conversations
  • EMSRB legislation on education standards
  • Price transparency
  • Surprise Billing
  • Establishing a Medicaid Match program for MN EMS agencies
  • Soft body armor program
  • Legislation to allow the EMSRB the authority to issue waivers to assist with staffing and other workforce issues
  • Funding request of $30 million to MN Ambulance services for workforce and COVID costs
  • A technical fix to the Regional Program funding language

The MAA Legislative Committee meets monthly, and all members are encouraged to attend. Members can find additional meeting information on our events page (when logged in).
